How to Reduce Signature Image File Size
Signature images appear in email footers, website contact pages, and digital document forms. An oversized signature image (1MB+) bloats every email you send and slows page load. A properly optimised email signature image is under 50KB — invisible to the recipient but fast in every inbox.

Step-by-Step Guide

Capture or scan the signature at correct size
For email signatures: sign on white paper, photograph or scan, then crop tightly around the signature with a small white border. Target: 300–400px wide output.
Remove the white background (for transparent versions)
Use the Background Remover tool to make the white background transparent. This gives you a PNG with transparent background — the signature can be placed on any email background colour.
Resize to 300px wide maximum
Email clients display signature images at approximately 200–300px wide. Resize to 300px wide using the Resize tool. At this size, a PNG with transparency is typically 10–30KB.
Compress as PNG (for transparency) or JPG (on white)
If you need transparency: keep as PNG — compression gives a clean signature under 30KB. If your email always has a white background: save as JPG at 85% — even smaller (5–15KB).
Host the signature image and link in email footer
In most email clients, embed the signature image by URL (hosted image) rather than attaching it — this keeps email file size small and ensures the image loads from a server rather than being attached to every message.
100% Private — Zero Uploads
ImgToolkit runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never sent to a server, never stored in the cloud, and never seen by anyone else. This makes it safe for sensitive documents, client work, medical imagery, and confidential screenshots.
Pro tip
Use 75–85% quality for web images — you get 60–80% smaller files with no visible difference at normal screen sizes.
