Pro tip

Always keep your original file before converting. Lossy formats like JPG discard data permanently — you can't restore quality that was compressed away.

Frequently Asked Questions

5 questions answered

What happens to PNG transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent or semi-transparent pixels in your PNG will be filled with a solid white background in the JPG output. If you need to preserve transparency, keep the file as PNG or convert to WebP instead.

How much smaller is JPG compared to PNG?

For photographs, JPG at 85% quality is typically 80–90% smaller than the equivalent lossless PNG. For graphics, logos, or images with flat colors, the difference is smaller. If your PNG is mostly flat colors, consider keeping it as PNG — JPG compression adds artifacts to flat color areas.

Is PNG to JPG conversion reversible?

Not perfectly. JPG is a lossy format, so each conversion discards some image data. If you convert PNG to JPG and then back to PNG, the round-tripped PNG will be lossier than the original. Always keep your original PNG if you might need it later.

Can I convert multiple PNG files at once?

Currently each file is converted individually. For a batch of files, process them one at a time — each conversion takes only a few seconds.

Will the converted JPG be the same size (dimensions) as my PNG?

Yes — format conversion preserves pixel dimensions. A 1920×1080 PNG becomes a 1920×1080 JPG.
