AI Image Upscaler — Enlarge Images Free (2× and 4×)

Sometimes you have a small or low-resolution image and need it larger — for print, a presentation, or a banner. Basic scaling just blurs the result. ImgToolkit's upscaler uses bicubic interpolation to intelligently fill in new pixels, producing a sharper, cleaner result than simple nearest-neighbor or bilinear scaling. Upscale 2× or 4× in seconds, directly in your browser.

Upscale Image Free

Step-by-Step Guide

4 steps · takes under 1 minute

1

Upload your image

Drop in your small or low-resolution JPG or PNG.

2

Choose scale factor

Select 2× (doubles width and height) or 4× (quadruples). A 500×500px image becomes 1000×1000 at 2× or 2000×2000 at 4×.

3

Process and review

The upscaler runs in your browser. Review the output — edges and fine details will be sharper than a simple resize.

4

Download

Download the upscaled image in the same format as the input.

🔒

100% Private — Zero Uploads

ImgToolkit runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never sent to a server, never stored in the cloud, and never seen by anyone else. This makes it safe for sensitive documents, client work, medical imagery, and confidential screenshots.

💡

Pro tip

All processing happens in your browser using WebAssembly and the Canvas API. No files are sent to any server — your images stay completely private.

Frequently Asked Questions

3 questions answered

What's the difference between bicubic and AI upscaling?

Bicubic interpolation (used here) uses surrounding pixel math to estimate new pixel values — it's fast and produces smooth results. AI upscaling (like Real-ESRGAN) uses a trained neural network to hallucinate realistic texture detail. AI upscaling produces sharper edges and finer detail but requires more processing power. We use bicubic for speed and reliability.

Will upscaling make a blurry photo clear?

Upscaling cannot recover detail that was never in the original — it can only add mathematically estimated pixels. A fundamentally blurry or out-of-focus photo will remain blurry at a larger size. Upscaling works best on clean, sharp source images that are just too small.

What's the maximum output size?

There's no enforced limit, but 4× upscaling of a 4000×4000px image would produce a 16000×16000 output (~768MP), which would be extremely slow in any browser. For most use cases, 4× on images up to 1500×1500px works well.
